Holmes Community College announced that it has been awarded $1.46 million in American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. The State
of Mississippi provided funding to Mississippi's community and junior colleges from
Education Funds included under the State Fiscal Stabilization Act.
The funds will be used to enable the college to continue to provide academic scholarships to students on its three campuses and other centers throughout the nine-county district. Dr. Glenn F. Boyce, President of Holmes Community College, said: "With the incredible growth we've been experiencing, our institution has arrived at the outer limits of our capacity. ARRA funds have been responsible for helping us ensure that our academic quality standard is not compromised."
