The Funeral Service Technology Program at Holmes Community College was granted the charter for the Omicron Chapter of Sigma Phi Sigma from the Mortuary Science Department of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where the Alpha Chapter and headquarters of the fraternity is located. The fraternity is designed to promote professionalism between mortuary science/funeral service students. Officers for the fraternity consist of freshmen and sophomore students under the sponsorship of the funeral service faculty. The fraternity is involved in organizing events to help the community as well as participating in fund raising events to attend local and national funeral service association events and field trips. All funeral service students are invited to become a member of the fraternity.
