Process for Applying for the Surgical Technology Program
Follow Steps 1-3 below to apply for the Surgical Technology program which begins in August at Grenada and Ridgeland:
If you are not currently enrolled as a Holmes student (this semester), click on “Enroll Now” to complete a Holmes Community College online Admissions Application for fall, choosing AA Health Sciences as your major. After applying to the college, you must return to “Enroll Now” and complete the orientation. Please note that successful completion of Step 1 denotes acceptance to the college, not acceptance of application to the Surgical Technology Program.
After you have been accepted to the college and know that your ACT score on file with Holmes meets the minimum requirement for the Surgical Technology Program* (click on View More under APPLICATIONS on the HCC Website to see the Surgical Technology Admissions Requirements). Click on the college portal, “My Holmes,” and log in. Navigate to the “Academics/Career-Technical” icon at the top of the page and then go to the “Health-Related Applications” on the lower left-hand side of the page to access the Surg Tech (Grenada & Ridgeland) application. To apply for the Surgical Technology Program, click on the Surgical Technology Application. To check the status of your application, click on Application Status. (If your application was not successful, you will need to reapply by April 30th once the issue has been addressed.)
Official verification of minimum ACT score(s) must be on file with Holmes prior to submission of the Surgical Technology application (midnight on April 30th).
*Please note that your application will not submit successfully unless official verification is on file with Holmes that you meet the minimum ACT requirement, regardless of your age.
The deadline for submission of Surg Tech Applications, including all documentation, is midnight on April 30.
Submit necessary documentation: Official high school transcripts or GED scores and official transcripts of completed coursework from all regionally-accredited colleges attended should be sent to the following address by April 30:
Office of Admissions
Holmes Community College
PO Box 398
Goodman, MS 39079
Submit verification (a copy) of any special current medical licensure: EMT Basic, EMS Paramedic, Practical Nursing, or CNA—to your campus of choice (your choice of attendance) by April 30. This is optional, not mandatory, for the process.
The copy of the licensure must be hand delivered or postmarked by April 30 to the following address/your choice of attendance:
Surg Tech Program
412 W. Ridgeland Ave.

The specific ACT scores that qualify you for the program should appear on the screen when you apply. To view any ACT score(s) that you may submit after your successful application to the program, you may log into My Holmes, click on the Academics/Career-Technical icon, and click “Test Scores” in “My Student Information.”
By mid-May, notice of class selection will be sent to prospective students via Holmes email.
