SHOF – Daryl Macon, Jr.

Daryl Macon Jr., a standout guard who rose from Holmes Community College to a professional basketball career spanning the NBA and Europe, will be inducted into the Holmes Sports Hall of Fame on April 9 during a banquet at Frank Branch Coliseum.

Macon, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, made an immediate impact at Holmes. As a freshman, he averaged 23 points per game, ranking fourth nationally in NJCAA competition. He also shot 88.9% from the free-throw line while contributing 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, earning junior college All-American honors.

In his sophomore season (2015–16), Macon elevated his performance, averaging 23.9 points per game—sixth best in the NJCAA—and was named to the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Third Team All-American.

After excelling at Holmes, Macon transferred to the University of Arkansas, where he became one of the Razorbacks’ leading scorers and earned Second-Team All-SEC honors in 2018.

Despite going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, Macon’s professional journey began when he signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks. He split time between Dallas and its G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, and later joined the Miami Heat, where he also played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the G League.

Macon’s international career has been equally notable. In 2020 he signed with Galatasaray of the Turkish Basketball Super League and the Basketball Champions League. In January 2021, he moved to AEK Athens in Greece, where he averaged 18.2 points and 3.7 assists per game.

Later in 2021, Macon joined Panathinaikos Athens of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague, where he averaged more than 13 points per game in Europe’s top club competition and was named EuroLeague Round 6 MVP in 2021–22.

Macon continued his success with UNICS Kazan of the VTB United League, winning the 2023 VTB League championship and earning All-League recognition.

He has also played professionally in China with the Shenzhen Aviators, where he averaged 18.9 points and 6.1 assists, and, as of 2025, he joined the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Macon’s induction into the Holmes Sports Hall of Fame recognizes a career defined by scoring, perseverance and international achievement—beginning with his days in junior college and extending across some of the world’s premier basketball leagues.
