SHOF – Shane Michael Trosclair, Baseball

Shane Michael Trosclair, a native of Chackbay, Louisiana, attended Thibodaux High School. He played baseball for the Bulldogs from 1995-1997 under Coach Kenny Dupont and will be inducted into Holmes Sports Hall of Fame on April 11 in Goodman.

Trosclair was a pitcher at Holmes and was selected for Junior College All-State and All-American pitcher in 1996. While at Holmes, his team went back to back in the regional tournaments for the college.

Some of the highlights from Trosclair’s time at Holmes included: eating at Rick’s Diner; pitching in the snow flurries against Mississippi Gulf Coast; earning a scholarship to continue his baseball career at Southern Louisiana University and the love/guidance from Coach Quinby Morgan and Coach Dupont

After Holmes, Tosclair earned a B.A. in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University he led the pitching staff in wins. Later he earned his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.

Sports continued to be a main part of Trosclair’ s life as he took his first job at St. James High School in Vacherie as the assistant football and baseball coach. Later he moved up to head baseball coach and taught health/P.E. and civics.

Trosclair continued to coach at area high schools until he landed back at his high school where he coaches today. He is head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Thibodaux High School. He also serves as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes moderator, PBIS Team Member and Business Tech and Response to Intervention Leader within the high school.

Completion is not something Trosclair has shied away from, as he has led the Marucci Elite/Knight Nation Baseball team for summer and fall ball since 2012.

Some of Troxclair’s honors include being a member of the Lutcher High School football state championship special teams coach; winning many district championships over the years (which awarded him district coach for nine straight years); in 2013 national champions for the Marucci Elite(with a perfect game) and totaling 365 career wins in baseball as head coach in his Louisiana Prep Career (23 years). He has also been voted Regional Coach of the Year five times and is a member of Louisiana Football Coaches Association and Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association, where he has served as convention president, plus an at-large member for the board of directors and American Baseball Coaches Association.

In 2023, Thibodaux High School recognized Trosclair as Coach of the Year and he has also been recognized as Inspirational Teacher of the Year five times with the latest recognition in 2022.

Trosclair resides in Thibodaux with his wife, Keena, and their three boys: Camden (19), Brody (17) and Cole (15).
