Proctored Exams
A proctored exam is an exam that requires you to go to a testing center, verify your identity, and complete the exam under supervision.
All online courses require at least two proctored exams. Students are responsible for scheduling an appointment with an approved testing center. Proctored exams may be taken at no cost at any Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC) testing location.
On-Site Proctored Testing
- Holmes CC and the MSVCC provide proctoring services through SmarterProctoring.
- To schedule your proctored exam, log in to your Canvas course and click SmarterProctoring in the course navigation menu. Students must pay any required fees for out-of-state testing.
- For more information about SmarterProctoring, visit SmarterProctoring Student Resources.
- Students approved for ADA accommodations are expected to use an official MSVCC-approved testing center whenever possible. When a documented disability prevents physical access to an approved testing center, alternative testing arrangements may be coordinated through Disability Support Services.
- For questions about a Holmes proctor lab, email elearningproctor@holmescc.edu.
Alternative Proctored Testing (Effective Summer 2026):
- Students who encounter extenuating circumstances (as defined by the Holmes District Bulletin) may be eligible for alternative proctored testing arrangements.
- Documentation must verify that the circumstance affects the entire testing window.
- All requests are reviewed by eLearning.
- Requests with supporting documentation must be submitted via the Proctored Testing Arrangements Form at least 7 days before the exam opens.
- Students will receive an email sent to their official Holmes email account from an eLearning representative notifying them of the outcome of their request. Additional documentation may be requested to determine eligibility.
- Approved non-MSVCC testing facilities or remote proctoring services may require an additional fee payable by the student.
Non-MSVCC Proctored Exams
Holmes Community College does not offer non-MSVCC testing.
