Information Systems Technology
The Computer Networking Technology degree prepares students to work in the areas of network setup, computer maintenance, and system support. This program prepares students for the CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco, and Microsoft certifications.
The Computer Programming pathway is a program which offers training in the design of coding and testing of business applications, network management, and computer system operations.

Mission
The Information Systems Technology Department prepares students for productive employment as well as provides opportunities for certificate training and lifelong learning. The options of Computer Networking and Computer Programming provide both academic and hands-on opportunities for students to achieve competencies in written and oral communications, to demonstrate a thorough understanding of local area networks, programming concepts, security concepts, computer service, and computer maintenance.
What to Expect
At Holmes, you should expect job training. If you have looked for employment in Information Technology, you will quickly notice many letters and words which make little or no sense to the unfamiliar reader. The Computer Networking Technology (CNST) program helps to demystify the job market requirements and prepare you for gainful employment. Information Systems Technology (IST) has many paths (Networks, Systems, Security, Database, Virtualization, Coding, etc.), and every class is a path to a possible career. Many careers require training in many of the paths mentioned, and as you might expect, most jobs require advanced training in a specific path. For example, a person wanting to fix computers will take a class to understand essential computer components and hardware. In contrast, another course may center around repair and understanding practical problems associated with modern devices.
Job Outlook
IST and CNST have support as its center. Can you think of an industry or a job today that doesn’t use computers or mobile electronics? The job outlook is excellent as all devices and networks require support at some level. Students from Holmes have filled positions from PC Support to information and Network Security. Others have found their niche in database management and web development.
